The Planning and Budgeting Committee met Thursday, Oct.18, at the Library, in Room 202 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. where they discussed several topics including the $3 million budget cut for the entire college.
The meeting went over several agenda items including the college annual plan, budget cuts, the campus climate survey 2018 results and the long range survey plan.
The committee looks at the amount of money that each department spent the previous year and how much their budget is this year and then takes a percentage of the total to reduce the budget accordingly.
Although the $3 million seems like a large reduction, the Vice President of Administrative Services, Brian Fahnestock, said that these cuts weren’t anything major.
“It’s really a small cut, it’s $3 million in our overall budget…these are minor reductions,” Fahnestock said.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m.
