El Camino College has involved itself with many other colleges by setting up dates in which El Camino students can take part in campus tours of several different colleges and universities.
According to the ECC website, El Camino College has organized 10 separate tour dates of different college campuses throughout the spring semester, including a Northern California tour during spring break.
“Visiting a school campus is very important,” counselor Lorenda Johnson said. “The student will be able to see the campus, check out the environment and see if it’s something that suits what they want to be involved with.”
Despite five campus visits having already passed, there are still five separate future campus tours of CSU Los Angeles, CSU Fullerton, UC Santa Barbara, CSU Northridge, and UCLA.
“Things were really put into perspective (during a campus tour) ,” Transfer Center student worker Wendy Mata said. “I fell in love with the campus and was instantly motivated to find a way to attend the school.”
The only requirements to sign up for a campus tour are to be enrolled in one course at ECC and to make a five dollar payment, which is refunded when you attend the campus tour you reserved a space for.
If you do not show up the day of your tour, the payment you made to reserve your spot will not be refunded to you.
“Looking at pictures isn’t the same as seeing the campus in person,” student ambassador Anam Khan said. “Your decision shouldn’t be made based on what you see but rather what you feel when you experience the campus first hand.”
To sign up for a campus tour, students must go to the Transfer Center located on the first floor of the Student Services Center.
