The former El Camino student accused of threatening to massacre students and faculty has been through hearing after hearing awaiting the beginning of his trial.
“My client is not happy with the progress of this trial,” Public Defender Jonathan Cruz said about former student James Lemus.
Judge Eric C. Taylor has set up May 26 as the next readiness trial date. If Cruz does not have everything he needs ready for that day, he will then file penal code 1050.
“He is asking for a continuance,” Deputy District Attorney Patrick O’Crowley said. “There was an expert appointed by the court to have a psychological report done. He(Cruz) can’t start without it.”
