The men’s basketball team broke out of a four game losing streak with Friday’s 78-67 win over Los Angeles Southwest College.

Despite having won only one of their previous eight games, the Warriors (7-14, 3-2) came out of the gate strong, building up an imposing 19 point lead over the LASC Cougars (7-15. 0-6) by halftime. While the Warriors would see the Cougars trim the lead to nine, they were never able to recover from EC’s blistering start.

EC sophomore guard Derrick Twiggs and freshman forward Emmanuel Pope paced the team with 21 and 20 points, respectively.

The loss to the Warriors extends the Cougars’ losing streak to seven. It’s also their ninth loss from 10 games.

The Warriors will play the visiting Long Beach City College Vikings (18-5, 4-0) Wednesday Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. This will be the Coaches vs Cancer game in which all the proceeds generated will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
