With passion, dedication and a sense of direction, anyone can conquer their desires.
Drama major Jenna Belluci, 23, has found her passion as an actress and director in both plays and on Web series.
“I have always been an animated person, when I was younger I would always look for the spotlight,” Belluci said.
Bellucci’s mother promoted her acting at the age of 6, putting her in small plays in children’s theater.
She continued to act throughout her school years by continuing children’s theater until the end of her eighth grade year.
It was as if after every year she managed to become increasingly involved with her acting.
Through high school, Bellucci was in as many school plays as she could get into.
During this time, she began to compete in acting-related competitions.
Bellucci has started her acting career at EC’s Drama department by starring in more than six plays and two Web series filmed by students and alumni.
Her most recent play on campus was from Spring 2009’s “Not Now, Darling.”
But Belluci still keeps education ahead of anything else.
“I want to get my degree first, this way I have something to fall back on,” Belluci said.
In the spring, Belluci will be transferring to Cal State Dominguez Hills where she will enroll in the theater and education departments.
Bellucci plans to be a drama teacher before she does anything, and eventually have her own community theater.
“I’m not looking to be a big Hollywood actress,” Belluci said.
Bellucci hopes to have her community theater somewhere within the Los Angeles area.
“What I really want is to have place where I can direct and choose my own plays and if I want to act, I can,” Belluci said.
“I want it to be small so that actors just starting out have somewhere to get their foot in the door.”
Belluci says has worked hard to gain all her experience and believes that it is only a matter of time before she makes it to the top.
“What I really want is for people to believe I’m the character I’m playing and to have them be entertained,” Belluci said.
