The second week of class is coming to an end and if you haven’t bought your textbooks yet, you’re probably in trouble.
For the rest of the non-procrastinating student body, they found themeselves going to a new location to purchase those over-priced textbooks.
The bookstore is under construction, like many other areas in campus, and has been temporarily moved to the Activities Center until the summer of 2010.
As much as one dreads spending $300 at the bookstore for new editions of old books, one will dread it even more this semester because of the inconvenience of the temporary location.
The Bookstore is always crowded at the beginning of the semester, and that is to be expected.
But the previous location worked like a well-oiled machine; one was in and out within 15 minutes.
This year, that is not the case.
The interim location is much smaller in size than the old location, and, as a result, the line outside the door now regulates the amount of people allowed to enter the bookstore at a specific time.
After surviving the five-minute wait in the blazing sun, students are welcomed to the temporary facility then sent on a scavanger hunt to find all of the neccessary books for their classes.
Finding books is the most difficult part of the buying proccess because the current bookstore is not as organized as the previous one, and it’s hard to find your way through all of the people.
Once you have found all of your books and materials for your classes, you must wait in another line to hand over the cash.
The alternate bookstore is a bit of an inconvenience, but students can handle it if they are patient.
In the meantime, we all just need to relax and use the temporary Bookstore efficiently by grabbing everything you need for the semester in one visit and remember not to procrastinate.
If you do have to go to the bookstore, consider the delays and adjust your schedule accordingly so that you have plenty of time to wait.
In the end, all we can do is wait out the store and try to make the transition to this new space as painless as possible.
