Up next for the Warriors is the Southern California Regional Tournament.
The men will be at Long Beach City College and the women will play at Saddleback College. All matches take place today and run through Saturday
The Warriors who qualified for the Southern California Regional were Boggero, Nagaoka, Turner, Davis, Nau and Tatiana Steward.
Coach Steve Van Kanegan will prepare those competing by getting them mentally ready for the regional.
The Warriors going to regionals are happy to be going there this weekend.
“(The opposition) are all good players and it’s a good experience for you,” Nau said.
“In Ojai, you face familiar people and in regionals, you face new people that you never faced before,” Turner said.
With the regular season now over, players go on their own and represent the team leaving Van Kanegan able to think about next season.
“We always have high expectations. There are a few eligible for next season, but I don’t know if they are returning or not,” Van Kanegan said.
So far, none of the men or women have announced if they will be returning next season.
“At this point, there are a lot of players coming back, but you never know,” Van Kanegan said.
While some Warriors are competing in the regionals this weekend, other players can rest for next season and improve on their skills.
“Individually, each player needs to improve on their stroke,” Van Kanegan said.
“They need to be more consistent and practice more to be mentally ready for next season.”
