Kirk Honda is the president of the Environmental Club.
What is the Environmental Club?
Our club is the organization that promotes going green for the college and the student body.
Why is recycling important for EC?
(It is) important because our environment is crashing and we need to do something about it, even if it means taking very small steps one at a time. Also, so we don’t have oto ruin our environment for new materials and so that we can keep reusing the materials we already have.
What are some of the club’s goals?
Our goal is to put recycling bins on campus for recycling beverage containers and to promote more green activities on campus. EC is already doing a great job at being green.
What are your personal goals for the club?
I want to get recycling bins on campus before I transfer as well as being able to recruit new members to carry (on) the club’s legacy.
How can students become involved in the Environmental Club?
Students can become involved with the Environmental Club by attending our meetings every Thursday in Room 205 of the Natural Sciences Building at 1 p.m.
What are the requirements to become a member of the club?
(There are) no requirements. The more people, the better.
How long have you been attending EC?
I have been attending since fall of 2007.
How did you become involved with recycling on campus?
I wanted to start a recycling club on campus and talked with the ICC and they granted me the chance to do the club. I was also encouraged by my colleagues who wanted me to start the club, Dustin Semark and Neelam Jethua.
How do you feel about global warming?
I think global warming is caused by mankind. I do not think that it is natural and we are a contributing factor to it.
Is there anything else you would like to say about the club or recycling in general?
Hopefully we can continue a great cause for years to come.
