What do your duties consist of?
I oversee a cabinet of students and I take care of the details of the club. I attend different functions and travel with the students.
What is Alpha Gamma Sigma?
It’s an honor and scholarship society that’s statewide in the California Community Colleges. It recognizes those students with good grades and community service.

It recognizes scholastic achievement and fosters community service.
What are the requirements to join Alpha Gamma Sigma?
A student needs a 3.0 GPA to get in. Permanent members have completed 60 units at ECC, have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have been a member of AGS for one semester. Or, they have a GPA of 3.25 and have been a member of AGS for two semesters.
What does Alpha Gamma Sigma stand for?
Alpha stands for excellence, Gamma stands for knowledge and Sigma stands for wisdom.

How can a student benefit from the organization?
It’s a great leadership opportunity, notation on transcripts, recommendations and a certificate. When they transfer, universities consider these students well-rounded.
How should students prepare to become members?
Students should work on maintaining a GPA of at least 3.0.
What schools do the Alpha Gamma Sigma students transfer too?
They transfer to the Universities of California Berkeley, Irvine, Los Angeles, and California State University, Long Beach.
What was your motivation for becoming the adviser?
These are a great group of students and I work really well with the population. I’m amazed at the new things they come up with every year.
