Neither a loss to Santa Barbara College nor the hot weather could keep the EC sand volleyball team down as they came back to sweep Cypress College.
The Warriors lost earlier in the day to Santa Barbara 4-1 before beating Cypress 5-0 on Friday.
“I thought we stayed positive throughout the whole match,” EC’s Brooke Russell said. She also thought the game changer of her match was when “Nickeisha (Williams) came in and had three aces.”
EC’s Nickeisha WIlliams did not allow their loss to Santa Barbara earlier bring her down, and it showed as the Warriors recovered from the loss.
Williams said, “Our energy level was positive throughout the whole match.”
As far as what they could fix as a team, Williams thought a better interchange between teammates would be key.
“Our talking and our communication with each other,” Williams said is something that could be worked on. “Our energy level was positive throughout the whole match.”
Williams and Sadie Fraker also touched upon what her teammate did well.
“Brooke had a really good kill and our execution was great,” Williams said. “We have a really good connection while playing and we try not to get down on ourselves,” Fraker added .
Fraker said that their serving was a point of focus as to what needed to be worked on after their matches.
“We missed a lot of serves this time, but overall I think we did pretty good,” Fraker said
The sand volleyball team’s record now stands at 3-1. Their next meet will be on Tuesday at 1 p.m. when they play Rio Hondo College for the second time this season.
Last time EC and Rio Hondo met was last week when the Warriors swept them 5-0 to open the sand volleyball season.
