The women’s tennis team defeated Cerritos College in a very close match on Thursday. The Warriors played hard and came up on top to win the game 5-4.
In the doubles, sophomore Shanae Shampine and sophomore Donya Assef won 9-8. Freshman Jade Shugars and freshman Serina Rowland lost 8-4. Sophomore Chihiro Yamada and freshman Melissa Gronik won 8-1.
In the singles, Shampine lost in a very close and intense match 6-4, 6-4. Shugars lost 6-1, 6-0. Rowland lost 6-0, 6-1 and Assef won her match 6-2, 7-5. Yamada beat her opponent 6-1, 6-0 while Gronik won her match 6-3, 6-5.
The Warriors are now 10-7 and 6-4 in the conference which places them in fourth place. Their next game will be at home against Long Beach City College at 2 p.m.
