After earning a win at Cypress College on Thursday, Warriors approached the game ready to add another win to their record at Santa Monica College (SMC).
The Warriors defeated Santa Monica 6-3 to improve their record to 2-1 with two away wins and one home lost.
The Warriors started off slow with Rose Sgolsutyatorn, losing her match against Santa Monica College, Mayra Jovic, 6-2, 6-1 followed by Serina Rowland getting defeated by Santa Monica College, Izabel Nazdracheva, 6-1, 6-3.
After losing the first two match Warriors striked back and won the next three singles.
Sophomore, Shenae Shampine from Mojave High School won against SMC’s Shawntel Patterson 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman, Jade Shugars from St. Mary Academy High School won against SMC’s Elin Nyberg 7-6, 6-1.
Sophomore, Donya Assef from Palos Verdes Peninsula High School beat SMC’s Sammy Xiao, 6-2, 6-0.
Closing out the game was sophomore, Chirhiro Yamada from Japan who dominated the visiting Kiya Bodden, 6-0, 6-0.
Warriors are now on a two-game winning streak, with both victories coming from away games.
EC could earn their first win at home against Fullerton College on Feb. 5 at 2 p.m.
