EC women’s soccer team suffer another loss at home

Another loss for the El Camino Warriors extended their losing streak to seven, after falling to Chaffey College, on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at EC.

The home game for the women’s soccer team resulted in a 5-0 loss, but a 10th win of the season for the Chaffey College Panthers.

In the first-half, forward Nicole Downing, scored the first goal for Chaffey in the 21st minute.

El Camino’s goalkeeper Joelle Niimi, made five saves for the Warriors until Christina Johnson stepped in to make the final save during the last 20 minutes of the game.

During the second-half, Chaffey scored four goals, two of which were made by Kylie Covington, one by Angel Rodriguez, and another by Lindsey Hennon.

Chaffey’s forward, Covington, scored the last goal of the game, handing El Camino it’s 11th loss of the season.

“We played a more controlled game today against Chaffey, but unforced defensive errors continue to be our undoing,” El Camino women’s soccer coach, John Britton, said. “We are a better team than our record reflects but we need to stop these mistakes to improve our record.”

El Camino will host Long Beach City College at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26.
