EC Warriors end their season at Mount Saint Antonio College with a lose of 10-14 by Cypress College softball team.
The team ends the season with 339 runs, .334 batting average, .416 on base percentage, .417 slugging percentage and 18 home runs out of 48 games.
“Our defense was so strong,” Annie Adamos, 20, sociology major said. “Or pitchers knew they could throw the ball and trust that we would make the play for them almost every time.”
Despite the lose the coach feels this has been a great season for the EC softball team. They are the first team ever to make it to the CCCAA State Championships.
“That was our team goal from the very beginning. We had two main goals. The first was to be in the top four seeds so we can host playoffs in both Regionals and Super Regionals the second goal was to make it to the state championship tournament.” head coach Jessica Rapoza said.
The team managed to make it this far thanks to the hard work of both the players and staff.
“Our team and coaching staff worked so incredibly hard to reach both goals,” Rapoza said. “To know that we sent the sophomores off in history making style is so gratifying.”
The Warriors teamwork is what helped them to get ahead and make history this season.
“It came down to teamwork, great team chemistry and all understanding that we were there for one reason and one reason only, to make it as far as possible.” Ashley Machado, 20, kinesiology major said.
Despite having a great season there were still some areas in which the team could have done better.
“I always feel like there are areas that need improvement throughout the season but I think looking back at the entire season we finished fighting to the very end,” Rapoza said. “That’s really all I can ever ask for as a coach.”
