Heading into today’s matches, the Warriors were 14-0 and ready to finish the season undefeated.
The Bakersfield College Renegades didn’t pose a threat and were handed a 5-0 sweep.
Unfortunately, the wind had other plans for the Santa Barbara match and the Warriors (El Camino) were knocked off for the first time this season (against community college opponents).
Beach volleyball team vs. Bakersfield College, 5-0 WIN:
- No. 5 pair of Jewel Yandall and Brooklyn Rubio won 21-10 and 21-9.
- No. 4 pair of Victoria Curtice and Jessica Dow outlasted BC 19-21, 21-15 and 15-8.
- No. 3 pair of Brooke Russell and Taylor Brydon won 21-14 and 21-12.
- No. 2 pair of Nickeisha Williams and Michelle Shimamoto took it three in a 21-15, 21-23 and 15-6 win.
- No. 1 pair of Laynie Thompson and Sadie Fraker finished the sweep in a 21-15 and 21-12 win.
Beach volleyball team vs. Santa Barbara City College, 3-2 LOSS:
- No. 5 pair of Yandall/Rubio remain the only undefeated EC pair after a 21-16 and 21-16 win.
- No. 4 pair of Curtice/Dow lost for the first time this season (against community college opponents) in a 21-17, 19-21 and 9-15 loss.
- No. 3 pair of Russell/Brydon made it look easy in a 21-7 and 21-15 win.
- No. 2 pair of Williams/Shimamoto also lost for the first time against CC opponents in a 17-21, 21-19 and 9-15 loss.
- No. 1 pair of Thompson/Fraker almost made the comeback but lost 18-21, 21-12 and 12-15.
