The Warriors’ women’s soccer team (4-8-4 overall, 3-4-2 in conference) dropped game nine of conference to Pasadena City College (6-8-1 overall, 4-4-1 in conference) with a final score of 3-1 on Tuesday at Robinson Stadium.

The Lancers were on the scoreboard early in the game. At the 4-minute mark, defender Talar Boshgezenyan found teammate, forward Alexis Acosta, for a fast-break goal to give Pasadena the early 1-0 lead, according to sophomore midfielder Rocio Najero.

“We weren’t in the mindset to win because the effort wasn’t there,” co-captain Najero said. “Most of the effort wasn’t there because we were not aggressive enough. Our defense plays a huge role in our team chemistry.”

The Lancers scored another goal at the 27-minute mark with a fast-break attack from their forwards. Midfielder Leila Farazdaghi put the ball through the net and gave Pasadena a 2-0 advantage over El Camino.

No teams scored for the remaining of the first half.

“We weren’t playing our usual game, our confidence was low,” sophomore defender and co-captain Riley Cole said. “We were frustrated. We were not playing as a team. We took it for granted and we lost.”

Pasadena sealed the game at the 59-minute mark with a penalty kick from midfielder Sandra Ambrosio.

At the 79-minute mark, freshman midfielder Miranda Ramirez found teammate Sarina Ferlazzo for an easy finish to earn El Camino’s only goal in the match.

El Camino plays Long Beach City College this Friday at home, kick off starts at 4 p.m.
