LA Trade Tech ended the Warriors’ six-game winning streak on Friday in a game that went down to the wire at EC.
With the game tied at 71 a piece and under 30 seconds left, freshman guard Kyla Jolly missed a chance to take the lead for the home side.
Trade Tech sped down other end of the court getting a basket and a foul to take the definite three-point lead and the 74-71 victory over the Warriors.
EC were neck and neck with the visitors at the start of the game. However, the Warriors restored the lead and went up by as many as 10, seven minutes into the game. EC led 33-26 at the break.
The visitors began to gain momentum in the latter period, chipping at the Warriors’ advantage until a late 13-4 run in the last four minutes gave them the definite lead they would not lose.
Sophomore forward Sydney Chase scored the late bucket that temporarily tied the game at 71.She led EC in scoring with 22 points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard Nisja Bass’ assist to Chase, was one of her six for the night to go with six rebounds and two steals.
The women’s basketball team are ranked eight in the state and play at Pasadena City College on January 28 at 7 p.m.
