At the Cuesta Invitational on March 14-15 the swim team was simply looking to improve their times.
The points and rankings of the meet have not been published yet.
Swimming and diving coach Corey Stanbury took the opportunity at the invitational, where several teams competed, to train his swimmers for the next meet at Pasadena.
The best times for the men’s team included Daniel Bender in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:20, Mike Colavita in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time less than 1:05, and Shon Page in the 100-yard backstroke with a life time best of 1:05.
The best times for the women’s team included Lisa Odland who ranked 8th overall in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 34.6 and Kaela Stager in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:36, breaking her best time by 20 seconds.
The team got lucky with the weather as it was sunny for the meet and started to rain just after they left.
At the upcoming meet here the Pasadena team will have an advantage of faster swimmers; however, it will still be a close and entertaining meet, Stanbury said.
