Down 3-1 in the final two games, the men’s tennis team were forced to rely on wins in the last two games but fell short, losing on Wednesday, 2-4, to Cerritos College.
With the match down to the last two players, Keith Boggero and Tsuyoshi Nagaoko, the match turned into one of heartbreak.
With a 3-6, 7-6, 7-5 loss by Keith, the number one player Tsuyoshi battled two leg cramps to gut out a 15-13 tiebreak win to give the team another point in a match that was already lost.
Clark Coble, the only returner from last year was dominated, 6-0, 6-1, Chris Talosi won the only other point with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win. Chris Talosi lost 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 and Riyota lost 6-3, 6-1.
