After a week without a game, filled with intense practices, the women’s soccer team prepared itself for the start of the South Coast Conference games.
Tomorrow, the Warriors will face the No.1 nationally ranked Long Beach City College in Viking Stadium at 2 p.m.
“Long Beach is a massive obstacle for us to overcome based on experience,” coach John Britton said. “They have won the state championship the past four years.”
A concern for the women will be sophomore forward Kristin Childers. Childers scored 35 goals last year, breaking the all-time goal scoring mark for a single season.
“Our defense is going to have to mark her very tightly,” Britton said.
Tuesday, EC will play against the East L.A. Huskies in Weingart Stadium at 4 p.m.
“The following game should be easier,” Britton said. “It shouldn’t be as tough, but the EC women will have to prove that they can score.”
They have struggled all season in the scoring department, evident by three consecutive losses by the way of shut out.
The defense will definitely be challenged tomorrow as they face a team that went undefeated en route to a fourth consecutive state championship.
