With eight games under its belt, the men’s tennis team still feels it needs more matches to help improve its record.
Unfortunately, with only three games left, EC won’t have much time to get the experience that it needs to beat the top conference teams.
The Warriors will need to wait until Tuesday at 2 p.m. when they travel to play Long Beach City, who they tied earlier this year.
“Long Beach is a good team that we should have beaten last time,” Tyler Watanabe said. “If we play like we can, than we will beat Long Beach this time.”
Lack of experience was one of the reasons the Warriors lost to Mt. SAC, 7-2 Tuesday, and the players knew it.
EC did not use its top player Jay Sakolsatayatorn for singles because he had an injured back, but it did use him for one of the doubles matches.
“Jay is real important and he makes our team better when he plays,” Jeff Lew said. “Not having him on singles makes it harder for the team to win.”
With no game today, the players will have an extra day to practice and they know they need to work on the little things to improve their game.
“We need more work on our conditioning and we need to have the right competitive mentality,” Lew said. “We play like we are something that we are not.”
Coming to the end of the season, the Warriors still have a positive attitude on their record and the team likes its chances for victories in its upcoming games.
“We are in every game that we play, but our conditioning stops us from getting that winning point,” Khoi Phan said.
