Police Beat, April 19-24
April 28, 2013
April 26, 4 a.m. Officers responded to a suspicious person call in the communications building. A custodian observed a male subject loitering near the building. It was discovered that the subject, non student, was sleeping in the elevator. The subject was escorted off campus.
April 26, 12:44 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Crenshaw Boulevard near Redondo Beach Boulevard. The vehicle had a broken tail light and it was found that the driver, male non student, was driving on a suspended license. The male was given a citation and was able to legally park his vehicle on the street.
April 25, 3 p.m. Officers received a call in regards to a male subject, non student, on a bicycle on campus. The subject was publicly drinking beer near the art & behavioral science building. Officers contacted the subject and found that he did in fact have in his possession a bottle of Old English. The subject was given a citation for drinking alcohol in public and was released into the field.
April 24, 6 p.m. Officers conducted a bicycle stop on Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The bicyclist, a male non student, had two warrants with a grand total of $60,000 out of the Inglewood Police Department. The male was arrested and turned in for booking.
April 24, 1 p.m. Officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that made an illegal turn near Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The driver, female non student, was driving with a suspended license. The female was cited for the violation. Her passenger had a valid license and was able to take control of the vehicle.
April 24, 11 a.m. Officers responded to the child development center in regards to a medical aid call. A female student was at the child development center observing, when she began to experience sever abdominal pains. The paramedics were notified and arrived on scene. The female was transported to an area hospital for further treatment.
April 23, 2:12 a.m. Officers responded to the Health Center regarding a medical aid call. A male student was experiencing an asthma attack. The paramedics were notified and the male was transported to an area hospital.
April 23, 10:10 a.m. Officers responded to the bookstore regarding a theft report. A male student left his book on the ground outside of the bookstore at approximately 10 a.m. When he returned to his book, after purchasing his supplies, it was gone. Officers would like to remind students to use the lockers located outside of the bookstore. It only takes a quarter for a student to lock their belongings in a locker and the student will get that quarter back.
April 20, 4:45 p.m. Officers responded to the south athletic field regarding a medical aid call. There was a soft ball game taking place and a female, non EC student, dislocated her knee. The paramedics were called and the female was transported to an area hospital for further treatment.
April 20, 4:05 p.m. Officers responded to the station regarding a vandalism report. At approximately 2 p.m. a female parked her vehicle in parking Lot L and walked to the Roadium swap meet. When the female returned two hours later the driver side window of her vehicle was smashed. Nothing was taken from inside her vehicle.
April 19, 12:20 p.m. Officers responded to the station in regards to a theft report. A male student at approximately 9:30 a.m. left his belongings inside his personal locker in the men’s locker room. When he returned at noon the lock was missing and the locker was open. Nothing was missing except for $70.
