If you’re looking for a coffee spot to grab a quick cup of Joe, then I definitely have the place for you. I grab a drink from here everyday and now I’m in more debt than I was before, but I’m OK with that.
That’s because the baristas always greet me with a warm smile and are happy to answer any coffee-related questions I have, as long as I keep purchasing more.
I’m talking about Peet’s Coffee, the small coffee shop currently located in front of the El Camino College’s Student Activities Center.
There are a wide variety of drinks from the usual ice blended drinks Starbucks also has to offer to simple black coffee and they also have a variety of milks, ranging from whole milk to coconut to almond milk.
But instead of walking through campus and risking your life crossing Crenshaw Boulevard to wait in line at Starbucks or McDonalds just so they can pronounce your name wrong, you can just walk to the Student Activities Center and get a quick cup.
If it’s your first time trying coffee, I would definitely recommend getting something sweet like their Caramel Javivia, an ice blended drink that uses milk, caramel syrup, coffee and ice.
Since it uses sweet ingredients you can hardly taste the coffee to the point where you don’t even think there is any in the drink. I know because I couldn’t tell there was any until I saw them making the drink one day.
Peet’s Coffee is so accessible for students and the simplicity of the menu greatly helps first timers since each drink is labeled with its prices and ingredients.
At the end of the day this is just an opinion of a writer who is addicted to coffee as much as any other student going to college. If you don’t like it that’s cool too. There are many options out there to go and grab a cup of coffee, but you would be missing out if you didn’t want to try Peet’s Coffee at least once in your life.
