Suspects failed to break into the ATM machine in “The Manhattan” near the Bookstore today, El Camino Police Chief Michael Trevis said in an email.
“(The suspects) failed in their attempt and might have caused a fire with a welding torch,” Trevis said.
Ann Garten, Community Relations Director, sent out an email to students, faculty, staff and managers about the break-in, which caused “smoke damage to the Bookstore.”
Although Trevis said that there was damage to the “The Manhattan” cafe only, the Bookstore is expected to be open tomorrow, Garten said in the email.
Trevis said that police are still investigating the situation.
