Student robbed at gunpoint in Lot F

The El Camino Police Department sent out a campus advisory email today informing students that a student was robbed at gunpoint in Lot F yesterday.

According to the campus advisory, a student said “he was sitting in his car at about 1:30 p.m. in the upper portion of Lot F when two suspects approached his car and showed him a silver revolver.”

The email also said that it is unknown if the gun was real or fake.

The suspects did take the student’s wallet, cell phone and a necklace then “ran north toward Manhattan Beach Boulevard and out of sight,” according to the email.

One of the suspects was described as a heavy set Latino man in his 20s with curly hair. There is no description of the second suspect other than he was called “Hector” by the first suspect, according to the email.

“The victim came to the police station to report it, so there was a 15 minute delay from when the crime occurred, ” Police Chief Michael Trevis said in an email.

Trevis also added that the police department is reviewing video from security cameras in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call El Camino Police at 310-660-3100.
