Professor Maria Brown taught at El Camino College for over 40 years and just this past November, she died.
It has been a semester since she died and a tribute was held for her on Thursday. It was an open-invitation event for all to come to share stories of her and how she impacted one’s present lifestyle.
Dr. Gloria Miranda who is the Dean of the Behavioral and Social Science, along with faculty from all over campus, family, friends and students that knew Brown or had the privilege to have been taught by her came to the East Dinning Room above the Bookstore. The event was prepared by the El Camino Black Student Union and some of the faculty of EC
The common theme was Brown loving EC. Whether it was setting up exhibits in the library or teaching she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
