Instructor breaks international swim records
The EC faculty brims with great accomplishments and success: Traci Granger, 56, proves to be a master swimmer. Earlier this month, she traveled to Montreal, Canada, winning three world championship races in the FINA World Masters 2014 and setting another world record – completing the 50-meter butterfly in 31.32 seconds, according to a press release.
Competing against 6,000 swimmers from more than 76 countries, she ranked as one of the fastest swimmers in her age category globally. This is Granger’s fifth world record according to the press release.
According to the press release, she was rewarded a resolution from the Los Angeles City Council for her accomplishments as both a role model and an educator.
Since 1992, Granger has been a member of EC, instructing intermediate and advanced swimming, health and first aid. Before EC, Granger was the head coach at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Granger is also recognized as an All-American sprinter and an NCAA Division II Championship finalist.
