Online applications for more than 450 different scholarships will be available to EC students through MyECC until December 6, Katie Gleason, Executive Director of the El Camino College Foundation, said on Wednesday.

While the large number of scholarships may seem like a headache for students to sort through and then apply to, the process has been streamlined for ease of student use.

“Students fill out just one application and then they will be matched up with all of the scholarships they qualify for,” Gleason said.

Scholarships range in value from $500 to as much as $5000, with the average being worth $1000. Eligibility can be based upon criteria such as field of study, financial need, or academic accomplishment.

To apply, students need only to have completed a total of 6 units at EC, with a GPA of 2.0 or better, and complete the application form on the MyECC website.

“Even freshman students who are brand new this semester will have likely completed that many units by the time we pull their grades, so new students can apply as well,” Gleason said.

The scholarships awarded to students will be announced next April at the Foundation Scholarship Awards Ceremony.
