Students attempting to add classes will now have assistance available to them as the Activities Center will offer add-on help to students.
But although the help is available, Steve Waterhouse, supervisor of admissions said that there has been a low number of students needing the assistance.
”I think students pretty much got the hang of registering for classes in the spring semester,” Stephanie Bennett, counselor said. Bennett said since there is not a high enrollment of high school students in the spring semesters, there is not a lot of need for add-on help.
Another reason is because there are students who do not know add-on help exist.
Students like Shaquet Flakes, 21, child development major, said that she could have used some of this help when she going through the registration process.
Other students find it hard registering because primary classes are already filled or offered elsewhere.
”Every class that I tried to register for was full and the class that I need, I have to take it at El Camino Compton Campus which is an inconvenience,” Blanca Sanchez, 22, undecided major, said.
Some students had no problem registering for classes but did have issues finding their classes.
“I didn’t have a hard time registering for any classes but I needed help finding my class,” David Velez, 18, biology major said.
One student did something differently this semester to guarantee that she enrolled in all of the necessary classes.
”I actually registered on time this semester and got all my classes so I didnt need any add-on help,” Adriana Gomez, 21, psychology major, said.
For the most part, students said that they are just unaware of the services that the Activities Center offers.
”I honestly didn’t know they had computers in the Student Activity Center,” Flakes said.
The last day to add classes is Friday, Feb.22.
