A Pathway To Your Dreams
On behalf of Black History Month, Daniel Armstrong will be speaking at “A Pathway to our Dreams.” This event is on Thursday Feb. 23 and will run from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the campus theater.
According to history professor Maria Brown, “A Pathway to Your Dreams” will be a motivational talk about success and pride.
Armstrong lived in Ghana, West Africa, where he inspired two brothers to start a school in their area by telling them to “find a tree and start their school there.”
Based on this experience, Armstrong developed the Find A Tree program.
According to his website findatree.com, the program helps people find their tree and begin making their dreams a reality.
The Find A Tree program has been used to help incarcerated gang members and underachieving students throughout LA.
Armstrong’s talk will be an important addition to the campus’ celebration of Black History Month.
“It demonstrates that ECC acknowledges the contribution that African Americans have made to the development of American society. It’s about African American history, but it’s also about American history,” Brown said.
