The new Lot H parking structure is serving the campus “extremely well” according to Thomas Brown, one of the Assistant Directors of Facilities Planning and Services for El Camino.
“The new structure provides accessibility and has helped decrease some of the traffic by those seeking parking,” said Brown.
Lot H, located at Redondo Beach Blvd., provides 5 levels of parking spaces and access for disabled persons. Thanks to its purpose and location, students have another parking area for their vehicles and are able to get to class sooner.
An interesting feature within the structure are dedicated parking spots for ECC’s ASO members. When asked about this, Brown replied that the spots are “somone else’s idea”. He did not know who is behind placing the reserved spots.
Jahety, a freshman at El Camino College, appreciates the new structure after having experienced the clogging traffic in his first semester at ECC. He sees a clear difference from what he’s been through last year.
“This is only my second semester here but the new parking makes a whole lot of difference. It really sucked looking for parking last semester.”
No additional changes or improvements are planned in the near future for Lot H or other structures.
