There will be five different employer fairs here at ECC this year, to which students should bring a stack of resumes and come dressed business casually.
“What we try to do every month, we as the job placement center and career center; together we work on these job fairs and we sponsor and bring in the employers on campus and the career center brings other counselors and other faculty out and support services out,” John Weitzel, M.S., Job Developer/Student Advisor of the Student Job Placement Center, said.
“What we are trying to do every month is highlight a different division,” he said.
“So we have the fine arts career fair in March, we have business in May; last fall we had the industry and technology fair,” he said.
“So the purpose of those is to bring in several business’; a dozen or twenty, a fairly small number to give students an opportunity of what careers in that field there is,” he said.
“The employers may or may not have job openings at the time for the careers and majors fair but it’s a good opportunity to network, to show employers a resume, to understand how to get a job in that field and what career path to take,” he said.
“Currently for the green job and internship fair on March 25, there are 21
employers coming so far, we hope to get that number up to 30,” he said.

“Students should definitely bring their resumes, if they need help with their resume they can come to our office; we have templates for them, they can show us their resume and we can help them edit it and give them ideas on how to put a resume together,” he said.
“There are about 21 companies coming,” he said.
All of the companies coming can be found at:
“A student should have a 30 second into when they come up, sort of a sales pitch,” he said.
An example of a short 30 second intro would be, “Hi my name is X and those are my best skills, these are the kinds of things I am looking for, these are what I am really good at, and what kinds of positions do you have available,” he said.
“We try to offer some kind of job fair or career majors fair once a month,” he said.
“The benefits of going to a job fair besides getting a job which is great, and a good number of students have, we just don’t have numbers for you; is also networking,” he said.
“You want to keep this business card and you want to contact them in two weeks and then a month later finally,” he said.
