Buying tickets to the movies, theme parks and school events can be very pricy. Auxiliary Services Board can and will help, for only ten dollars you get discounts on all of the above and more.
“Investing in ASB benefits all sports, fine arts, theater, and the Union,” Lawrence Moreno, ASB Project Coordinator said.
Without ASB, funds would be cut even more with the California budget cuts affecting faculty before the students, keeping opportunities abound through this slight fundraising.
“This is a benefit also because we brought back the musical theater program, the paper would also not be there without these funds,” Moreno said.
Events such as plays and concerts at the Marsee Auditorium are significantly reduced if not free all together, which is also the biggest draw to get ASB stickers.
“This benefits the whole campus, what good is a football team if you can not play,” Moreno said.
Most of the sports teams do not even know what or where they get the funding to keep prices down if not free.
“To help better further and expand your education, that is what ASB is aimed at,” Moreno said.
The liberties afforded by ASB may be a mystery to many of the students that they represent and support, but is gaining much steam.
“You get discounts on cool activities, and you get on campus access for free to such events as plays, and all sports on campus,” Kim Hoffsmith, Fine Arts major said.
ASB even extends to events off campus such as restaurants in walking distance from EC, as well as theme parks and other entertainment venues in Southern California.
“You save more money if you want to go to Knott’s and Disneyland, for food and souvenirs which is a bonus,” Hoffsmith said.
Students looking to save money may view spending ten dollars as costly, yet the true benefit comes when you purchase tickets to events you were already going to attend.
“My friends and I bought tickets for Six Flags over the summer and they were a good deal and very cheap,” Joey D’Asaro, film major said.
Supporting fellow students is another effect of the ASB program, allowing students to support their sports teams as well as watching plays put on by peers.
“Also, you can get tickets for the plays, such as Romeo and Juliet,” D’Asaro said.
From the time you get the ASB sticker you are entered into a raffle with many prizes offered.
“When they have the raffles it is good because you have a chance to win movie tickets and other tickets,” D’Asaro said.
