Police Beat

October 6, Monday, 2:00 p.m.
The police received a call that a female was screaming on the third floor of the Art Building. The subject left the area, but police found her on the south side of the Administration Building. She said people were after her and made other bizarre statements. Police discovered that she was recently released from medical care, but was transferred to Harbor UCLA medical center for a 72-hour mental evaluation.

October 6, Monday, 12:30 p.m.
An officer observed a male subject writing on a bus bench at Manhattan and Crenshaw Blvds. The 18 year-old EC student was then arrested for vandalism.

October 1, Wednesday, 12:30 p.m.
Officers received a call that there was a possible robbery in progress in front of the Humanities Building. When police arrived on the scene they were waved down at the Subway on Crenshaw Blvd. Three males, two on foot and one in a vehicle, attempted to steal a cell phone from a female subject. The suspect in the vehicle drove away after the female subject resisted her aggressors. The two suspects on foot were apprehended, however, the driver escaped police.

October 4, Thursday, 3:30 p.m.
A subject came into the EC police station for a finger print scan. Officers discover he had a warrant for $26,000. The subject was given a citation.

October 3, Friday, 11:00 p.m.
Officers observed a female subject tampering with a vehicle. When police approached her she panicked and ran across Crenshaw Blvd. through traffic. The female subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, being drunk in public, and resisting arrest. She was transferred to Torrance Police Department.

October 3, Friday, 1:10 p.m.
Officers responded to reckless driving in parking Lot F. There were two vehicles involved and an officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from one of the vehicles. When questioned, the driver turned over the marijuana he had in the car and was arrested for possession of marijuana while driving and reckless driving. His vehicle was towed.

October 1, Wednesday, 1:39 p.m.
In front of the student activities center, police responded to a medical aid call. A female subject felt a strong pain in her head after giving blood earlier that day. Paramedics transferred her to Little Company of Mary Hospital.
