Officers cite student for possession
Sept. 14, 12:49 p.m.- An officer patrolling parking Lot F drove by and observed a male, who was a student, in his car and appeared to be rolling a marijuana cigarette. The subject was cited for possession of marijuana and referred to the Dean of Enrollment services.
Pot smokers caught
in shopping center
Monday, 10 a.m.- A business owner from the shopping plaza on Manhattan Beach and Crenshaw boulevards contacted the police to report eight men in front of Domino’s Pizza smoking marijuana. Officers responded and four of the subjects were transported to the police station where three were cited, processed and booked for possession of marijuana. One was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Motorcycle pursuit ends in capture
Sept. 17, 1:54 p.m.- An officer observed a man speeding on his motorcycle without a helmet in lower Lot F. When the officer tried to pull the driver over, he drove off. After running several stop signs, the man finally stopped on 164th Street and ran toward Redondo Beach Boulevard. He was caught after trying to jump a fence and was arrested and charged with evading police, resisting arrest, driving without a license and possession of methamphetamines. He was booked at the Torrance Police Department.
Fingerprint scan for job reveals warrant
Sept. 16, 5:10 p.m.- A subject came into the lobby of the police deptartment to be fingerprinted for a job. Upon checking the fingerprints, the officer found that the subject had a $10,000 warrant from Torrance Police Deptartmnet for a DUI. The subject was issued a notice to appear for his warrant.
Motorcyclist chases
bad driver, crashes
Sept. 14, 9:45 p.m.- A man flagged an officer down, stating that five minutes earlier he was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Manhattan Beach Boulevard when a man in a Toyota Camry leaving the campus turned right, cutting him off. The man on the motorcycle drove next to the car when the driver brandished a handgun, causing the motorcyclist to fall off his bike.
Police catch pimp,
prostitute in car
Sept. 14, 11 a.m.- An officer pulled over a car for a registration violation in front of Textbooks Inc. on Crenshaw Boulevard. The man was a known pimp and had two people in his vehicle, one a prostitute. In the car, officers recovered a 45-caliber handgun and ammunition. The driver was arrested for driving without a license and is facing a possible weapons charge. The other two subjects were released.
Man with 11-inch knife not arrested
Sept. 13, 3 p.m.,- A cadet saw a driver take an 11-inch knife off of his waistband and put it under his seat. When questioned by the officer, the subject said he had no intention on using his knife. The man was not charged, but his knife was confiscated.
Police offer free shuttle for students
The campus courtesy shuttle is availible, for free, after 5 p.m. Faculty and students may use the shuttle for transportation anywhere on campus.
