Tagger sought, caught by police
Seeing a man tag a parking machine in Lot H, a student drove with a police officer and found the suspect smoking a cigarette near the Social Sciences Building.
The suspect was in possession of a black spray can, clearly visible in the mesh pocket of his backpack. He admitted to tagging before being arrested and was charged with vandalism.
The suspect was also found to have a $10,000 arrest warrant issued by the Torrance Police Department for possession of marijuana while driving and driving on a suspended license. His name will referred to the dean of student services for possible disciplinary action.
Student totes BB gun, meth pipes
Officers stopped a student for jaywalking across Crenshaw Boulevard from campus. The student told the police he had a pellet gun in his waistband.
Officers handcuffed the student and found him to be in possession of two glass pipes, after he admitted to carrying a pipe for smoking methamphetamine. He was charged with possession of controlled substance paraphernalia.
Car search reveals 2.6 grams of meth
Officers pulled over a car on Manhattan Beach Boulevard for equipment violations.
Police searched the suspect’s car and found a bag containing 2.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
He was arrested and charged with possession of the controlled substance, and when brought to the police station complained of chest pains.
Emergency medical personnel were called and did not find any problems and he was transported to men’s county jail with a doctor on staff.
Broken headlight results in arrest
Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Lot K for equipment violations, which included no rear brake light.
The driver was found to have a suspended license and during a vehicle search located marijuana in the car.
The student, who was picking his mother up at school, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana while driving and driving with a suspended license. The car was impounded.
Permit misuse leads to warrant
A police cadet was checking a vehicle containing a student who was parked in a handicapped parking space with his aunt’s handicapped permit.
The student had a $26,000 arrest warrant for speeding and driving with a suspended license and was arrested for the warrant and issued a notice to appear in court. He was also given a $330 ticket for parking in a disabled parking space.
Police arrest man harassing females
Officers responded to a call to the Humanities Building regarding a man who was harassing females walking through classroom hallways.
A female identified the subject and police found he had a $500 arrest warrant issued by the LAPD for using counterfeit coins.
He was arrested for the outstanding warrant and was issued a notice to appear in court.
