‘Rhapsody in Taps:’ Anniversary season performance comes to El Camino

A tap dancing company will host its 35th anniversary Los Angeles season performance on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. in the Marsee Auditorium, according to the show’s flier.

“Rhapsody in Taps” is a touring company that features tap dancers and jazz musicians paying tribute to the various traditions of tap.

“Taps” director/choreographer, Linda Sohl-Ellison, will be performing as well as musical director Tim Messina and special guests Jimmy Fisher, Burat Wangi and I Nyoman Wenten. They will also be paying tribute to “tap master” Gregory Hines and his choreography, “Toeing the 3rd and Fifth.”

The New York Times reviewed “RIT” as, “… an absorbing mix of hard-driving tap rhythm and modern dance, flavored with show biz sparkle and humor,” according to the event flier.

Ticket prices will range from $25-40 and can be bought at the El Camino box office, online at centerforthearts.org or through the phone at 800-832-2787.
