The Marsee Auditorium will be hosting the ECC Concert Jazz Band performance on Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. according to the Center for the Arts’ website.
The performance “Swing and Spain,” will be directed by part-time faculty member Alan Chan, with a style of contemporary swing, blues and Spanish-influenced music, according to a flier for the show.
“The idea for that concert came about because I was invited to present a concert earlier in November for the Spanish Civil War Commemoration Conference after researching a lot of music related to Spain,” Chan said.
The show will include an opening act by En Harmony jazz vocal ensemble and various musical pieces, Chan said.
Music from composers and arrangers such as Bob Brookmeyer, Chick Corea, Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, Jim McNeely, Sammy Nestico and Maria Schneider will also be performed, according to the flier.
Tickets for the concert cost $10 and can be purchased at the Center for the Arts’ website or by calling (310) 329-5345.
