The sounds of a Grammy-Award winner, El Camino student combo bands and local high school jazz bands will fill the campus for the 3rd Annual Jazz Festival on April 9, according to an email from an EC music professor Alan Chan.
Bob Mintzer, Grammy Award winning saxophonist, will be the featured artist and master class instructor for the jazz festival, according to the email.
The celebration of jazz will be a day-long festival of performances and educational activities, beginning with the High School Big Band Showcase, in which local school bands will perform and be judged afterward, and will end with a gala concert performance in the Marsee Auditorium by the ECC Jazz Faculty Ensemble, Studio Jazz Band, Concert Jazz Band and Mintzer guest performing, according to the email.
Things to know:
- The festival will begin at 2 p.m. in the Marsee Auditorium.
- Events leading up to the gala performance are free.
- Tickets for the gala performance at 8 p.m. cost $15.
