The baseball team traveled to Antelope Valley College Wednesday for the final game in the two-game series, shutting AVC out 7-0, according to CCCAA stats.
El Camino started the game off hot by scoring four runs in the top of the first inning against the Marauders.
The first was scored on a fielder’s choice that brought sophomore left-fielder Alex Turner in for the run.
The Warriors kept going with a triple by sophomore shortstop Fred Smith that brought in freshman first baseman Jake Sahagian and sophomore second baseman Joseph Cortez for two RBIs.
EC then earned one final run on a passed ball that helped Smith reach home for the early 4-0 lead.
After a few scoreless innings, the Warriors earned one run in each of the fifth, seventh, and ninth innings to seal their shutout victory.
EC had a very solid day at the plate. They recorded nine hits against AVC pitchers Arturo Sanchez, Brian Yount, and Joseph Mauldin. The biggest hitters on the day for EC were sophomore Turner and freshman left-fielder Jonathan Pasillas, both of whom earned two hits apiece.
EC’s record improves to 17-10, and their conference record is getting close to .500 at 5-7. The Warriors host LA Harbor Tuesday, April 7.
