The baseball team traveled to Pasadena on Tuesday to play the Lancers, and finally snapped their six-game losing streak after a 9-3 victory, according to CCCAA.
The Lancers scored first against the Warriors in the opening inning, and after a dry spell from both sides, the Warriors came back and earned two runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Both teams scored in the next few innings. The Warriors earned one run in the top of the fifth and seventh innings, and the Lancers earned one run in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings, which kept the score close at 4-3.
The Warriors had an explosive top of the ninth, in which they earned five runs against the Lancers that sealed the Warriors 9-3 victory.
The Warriors had a strong day at the plate against Lancer pitchers, Nick Esparza and Jason Marquez, who recorded a total 12 hits. The biggest hitter on the day for the Warriors was sophomore second baseman Joseph Cortez, who had a perfect four hits out of four at-bats on the day.
After Tuesday’s victory, the Warriors improved their record to 11-9. EC hosts Pasadena on Thursday March 19.
