L.A. Times acclaims Union newspaper
The Union has been named one of the top four newspapers in Southern California by the Los Angeles Times.
The paper may receive either a certificate or a cash award today at the Los Angeles Times.
Jolene Combs, co-adviser, Lori Medigovich, co-adviser, Ramiro Rodriguez, editor in chief, and Noraly Hernandez, managing editor, will attend on behalf of the newspaper.
Graduation gear, photos go on sale
Graduation announcements are being sold at the Campus Bookstore until June 10.
Photographs for graduation will also be taken in the Campus Bookstore until June 10. From Monday through Thursday, they will be taken between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Caps and gowns will be on sale from June 1 through June 10.
A cap, gown and tassel set costs $28; a blue tassel costs $4; a gold tassel, sold to students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, costs $4 and a souvenir silver and blue tassel, not to be worn at commencement ceremonies, costs $4. The prices listed do not include tax.

Annual Charity Event to raise funds
Following the fashion show, the ASO/ICC Annual Charity Event will take place in the Activities Center from 9 p.m. to midnight, June 3. All proceeds from this dance will be donated to the Health Center. A $5 donation is recommended, but not required for admission.
Tour Cal State L.A., UCSB tomorrow
Students will have the opportunity to tour Cal State L.A. or UCSB tomorrow. Space is limited and a $5 refundable deposit is required upon signing up for either tour.
The van for UCSB departs from Lot K, by the campus police, at 7:30 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. The bus for Cal State L.A. departs from the Visitor’s Lot at 9 a.m. and returns at 2 p.m.

Awareness event to provide giveaways
Get jerseys, video games, gift certificates and healthcare information all in the same day.
June 2, ushouldknow.org will be hosting a Healthcare Awareness event, Rascalin, to make students aware of sexually trasmitted diseases and encourage yearly checkups.
Giveaways will be provided for students who sign up in classes and around campus.

Campus Bookstore buys used books
The Campus Bookstore will be buying back used textbooks beginning June 214. Students may consult the Campus Bookstore for buy-back hours.
