The Warriors baseball traveled to Compton Saturday to play the Compton Center Tartars for the last of a three-game series, losing 10-4, according to CCCAA.
The Warriors struggled most of the day, both defensively and offensively. After they opened the game with one run in the first inning, the Warriors then conceded two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Five more runs in the bottom of the third inning, gave the Tartars an early 7-1 lead.
The Warriors scored once in the top of the fourth inning, and twice in the top of the eighth inning, but it was not enough. The Tartars earned two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and one run in the bottom of the eighth inning that sealed the victory.
While the Warriors had difficulties scoring, they did well at the plate against the Tartars’ pitchers, recording nine hits. The biggest hitter on the day for EC was sophomore left-fielder Alex Turner.
One of the biggest problems for the Warriors was leaving runners on base. The Warriors left a total of 12 runners on base.
The Warriors’ losing streak extends to six games. Their record is now 10-9 overall and 0-6 in conference-play. EC hosts Pasadena on Tuesday March 17.
