ONLINE EXCLUSIVE: Homecoming: The game and more
The ballots are in, the banners are up and students are excited for Saturday’s homecoming game against Mt. San Antonio College.
Pre-game preparation consisted of a club banner competition which took place this past Tuesday and ballot submissions.
Robin Dreizler, Director of outreach school relations, helped to judge the club banner competition for homecoming.
“I was happy to help out. It reminds me of when I was a student in ’78,” Dreizler said. “I see the same level of enthusiasm that students had back in the day.”
John Featherstone, football coach, said EC students are not only excited to see the football team play against Mt. SAC on Saturday but are also looking forward to the homecoming dance after the game.
“The dance is after the final game at Murdock Stadium before it’s remodeling,” Erica Soohoo, president of Alpha Gamma Sigma Club, said. “The theme will be the great Gatsby and the roaring ‘20s.”
Student Saumya Sharma, 17, philosophy major, is especially excited to attend the dance because she did not attend her high school prom.
“Homecoming at EC will help make up for lost times in high school. I look forward to being with friends at the dance,” Sharma said.
Lorena Montes, president of woman in technology, EC club’s elected two of their members to be king and queen of homecoming.
Natalie Stumph, honors transfer club president is one of many others running for homecoming queen.
