Women's basketball team leads conference after win
The women’s basketball team stayed atop of the conference table after a second victory in a row on Friday.
The Warriors came from behind to win 68-64 when they visited Long Beach City College.
The hosts led most of the game by as much as 15 points going into the half. The Warriors, however, regrouped and went on a 22-5 run to retake the lead.
LBCC retook the lead momentarily in the second half only to lose it in the dying minutes as the visitors made the most of their chances.
Sophomore forward Shontalene Trudeau led EC in points with 18 for the night. Sophomore guard Nisja Bass contributed eight assists and sophomore forward Sydney Chase made three 3-pointers.
Turnovers were LBCC’s weakness since they lost possession 33 times which led to 28 EC points.
Bass averages the second highest number of assists in the conference with 4.4 per game.
The women’s basketball team hosts Cerritos on Jan. 14 at 5 p.m.
