The 17th annual “Adopt A Family” event will take place on Friday, Dec. 18 in the Student Activities Center, a school director said.
Adopt A Family is a toy drive to benefit EOPS/CARE and CalWORKs students, David Brown, assistant director of EOPS/CARE and CalWORKs said.
The event will start at noon and there will be food, games, activities, movies and a “Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause” for the kids, said Brown.
There are two ways to donate. People can either donate a gift for a child ages 1-14 or they can request to adopt a family. The final date to donate is Dec. 15.
By requesting to adopt a family, a person is accepting to provide all the gifts on a family’s wish list, said Brown.
EOPS/CARE and CalWORKs students were informed of the program in November and then they were asked to submit a wish list for the children in their families, Brown said.
Anyone can choose to adopt a family, Brown said.
“We allow students to adopt a family if they want, but traditionally we get a tremendous amount of help from staff and faculty,” Brown said.
