The opening of the Math, Business and Allied Health Building (MBA), has derailed returning students from finding their classes, as classes usually located in the Math and Computer Science Building (MCS) were relocated to the new building.

Fortunately for students, information booths have been placed in front of the Schauerman Library, Campus Theatre, pool and by the Bookstore.

“This spring semester 2013, (students) have been asking about the new MBA Building,” Dallia Tafolla, 20, fashion merchandise major said. Tofilla was assisting students at the booth located between the Campus Theatre and Social Science Building.

Luis Mancia, 19, computer information systems major said, maintenance staff approached his booth asking if they could have maps to give students that approached them for building locations.

Mancia suggested that people be assigned to “make extra copies of maps for the staff that move around in carts,” in order to cater to students’ map demand. Other students like Matthew Wagner, 21, film major, sought navigation help from the Internet.

“I could not find a map of the school on My ECC,” Wagner said. “I had to go backward and go through the original EC website through current students to find an updated map of the college.”

In addition to the MBA and MCS mix-up, some students registered for theater are finding that they too are in a state of confusion.

“I have been sensing a lot of frustration from students because of the Theater Building,” Tatiana Medina, 25, economics major said.

Both Tofolla and Medina explained that students registered for theater 151, have been searching for their class in the ‘Theater Building only to find that there is no such building on campus.

Tafolla concluded that students are getting lost because “the buildings (music and campus theater) overlap.”

“They don’t know that the classes are in the Music Building,” Tafolla said.
