Police Beat (week of 5/20)

1.Man suspiciously stares at student

May 18, 12:05 p.m.-A student reported to an officer that two weeks before, a suspicious looking man in his car at Alondra Park, sat and stared at him and his girlfriend for a long time.
When the two approached him, he sped away.

2.Student cited for misuse of disabled placard

May 13, 9:00 a.m. -While enforcing parking in lot K, a cadet ran the serial number on a disabled placard and discovered that its owner was not the student sitting in the car.
The student admitted that he was not the owner. The placard was seized, and he received a citation.

3.Truck receives boot in parking lot H

May 11, 2:45 p.m. – A cadet patrolling lot H ran the plates on a truck who was not displaying a parking permit.
The truck had more than five outstanding parking tickets. The vehicle was booted and the student was notified.

4.Vehicle gets stolen on campus in parking lot L

May 10, 9:30 p.m. – A student parked in lot L, reported his car stolen. He and police looked for the vehicle, but did not find it. The vehicle was entered into the stolen vehicle system.

5.Long police find student with marijuana citation

May 7, 7:00 a.m. -A student was approached by Long Beach Police. It was discovered that he had an unpaid marijuana citation from campus police.
He was picked up and transported to the Torrance Police station for booking.
