Students help out state-wide beach-cleaning effort

Desire Rose Machado, 21, environmental horticulturist, volunteering her time at the Heal the Bay clean-up in Redondo Beach on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Machado was weighing trash collected by people for The Sea Lab, a small Redondo Beach aquarium.The beach clean-up effort was the largest in L.A. County history, with 14,038 volunteers according to Heal the Bay.
