3 robberies occur within 10 minutes

Three robberies occurred over a period of about 10 minutes in lot L when the same suspect, brandishing a gun in two of the robberies, stole money and a cell phone.

Police are working on a composite sketch of the suspect who witnesses say was African American in his early 20s, between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 150 to 170 pounds.

Witnesses said he had a black buzz-cut and wore a colored, vertical striped shirt.

The suspect escaped via a waiting car that police believe is a champagne-colored Honda with dark, tinted windows.

Student problems result in fight

Officers responded to the call of an off-duty police officer at Marsee Auditorium where a fight between two female students was in progress.

The two worked at a hospital and their problems apparently continued on campus.

Both students were arrested and charged with fighting on college grounds.

Their names will be submitted to the Dean of Enrollment Services for possible disciplinary action.

Broken headlight results in arrest

Police officers stopped a man for having a broken headlight and asked the driver if he had illegal items and if the vehicle could be searched.

The driver complied, and the officers discovered 25 grams of marijuana in the form of 17 baggies, a digital scale and other suspected drug paraphernalia.

The driver admitted his intent to sell the narcotic and was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana while driving, possession of marijuana for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

4 Children left alone in vehicle

Police officers received a call regarding four children left without supervision in a vehicle parked in Lot L.

The mother was tracked down and police officers found her in class where she told officers that she had to go to class and could not get a baby sitter.

Child Protective Services will investigate the incident.

Biker without light arrested

A man was stopped by police officers for riding his bike without a light. He was found to have a $10,000 warrant for arrest issued by the Torrance police department for having a suspended driver’s license.
